“Own Today.” Transforming these two words into an emblematic, rallying theme that guided an entire company over the course of the year was a task accomplished, in part, by the strategic recommendations and production of Blackbox Communications designers. Supporting a series of events for more than 2500 global employees, the “Own Today” theme carried two criteria: inspire the audience to act like leaders and do it in a literal, rock and roll style.
The integrated Blackbox solution offered a collage of collateral that described the theme visually, connecting it to messaging and inspiration delivered to employees during each event. Blackbox created an energetic theme logo and associated visual identity. Rock-style posters were delivered to attendee hotel rooms each morning during the program. Concert-inspired t-shirts were created for executives. In all, Blackbox guided the program with more than ten design initiatives – from signage and PowerPoint to arrivals evening stickers and awards night collateral.

By weaving the theme and visual approach throughout the client’s campaign, “Own Today” left a greater impact on the audience than if the word had been used in areas traditional to events. By applying the same principles used in deep branding, those two words became a clarion call for the remainder of the client’s sales year.
