Blackbox is making it a priority to adopt a green business environment. We have been and will continue to be, committed to adopting environmentally friendly practices in design, production and delivery of our marketing communication solutions. We are committed to demonstrating environmental leadership in all facets of our business transactions.

Blackbox is actively working with our employees, suppliers, partners and clients to meet or exceed our current environmental commitments - summarized below.

Recycled Materials
We strive to use recycled materials whenever possible.

• All promotional materials are printed on 100% recycled, elemental chlorine-free papers products.
  
• Our office uses only recycled paper products and makes every effort to print as little project material as possible.
  
• We participate in a printer toner return program.

Sustainability
We strive to offer sustainable communication solutions that help reduce the carbon footprint impact.

• We have implemented a work-remotely from home policy with employees to lessen green house gas emissions and reduce our carbon footprint generated by employee commuting.
• We utilize Internet Protocol & Telco technology platforms when appropriate for customer and supplier communications rather than face-to-face in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprint.

Water and Energy Conservation
We strive to conserve water and energy in our operations.

• We use LED (Light Emitting Diode) lights for down lighting that use up to 100 times less energy and last up to 100,000 hours when used indoors.
  
• We participate in FLAP (Fatal Light Awareness Program) which works to safeguard migrating birds in urban environments by turning off office lights between 11pm - 6am.
  
• We are currently implementing the installation of Smart Meters to monitor our electrical consumption.
  
• We engage in the process of insuring computers, electronic equipment and lighting are turned off at the close of business and HVAC systems are programmed to reduce their energy consumption when need be.
  
• We do not purchase drinking water in small individual plastic bottles but use large 20L bottles for drinking use.

Waste Reduction
We strive to reduce waste in our business processes and business operations.

• We have cut our company wide consumption of paper for communications, transactions, management and record-keeping systems in half.
  
• We insure paper and toner ink purchased for printers & multi-function machines are used only for necessary tasks.
  
• We actively participate perishable food repurposing.

Stewardship
Blackbox chooses to do business with others who share our philosophy and are committed to progressive environmental policies.

• We strive to inspire environmental responsibility and encourage a "reduce/reuse/recycle" mentality among our suppliers, partners, users and employees - on the job and at home.
  
• We frequently share information on eco-friendly practices.
  
• We serve corporate green initiatives by contributing to articles, committees, and educational forums.

Compliance
We operate our office facilities in accordance with all necessary environmental permits, approvals and operational controls. We adhere to all applicable environmental laws and regulations and strive to exceed the required levels of compliance wherever feasible.
